TransPacific Race History

In the annals of the TransPacific Yacht Race, a select few have achieved the pinnacle of victory in a Cal-40. Alli and her tenacious crew have now joined these esteemed ranks.

Back in its nascent years (1965, 1967, 1969), the Cal-40 was almost destined for glory in the Transpac. With fleets often boasting 15 of these purpose-built racing machines, they outmaneuvered many of the older, heavier vessels in other classes. Yet, even then, the internal competition within the Cal-40 class was fierce, with legends like Don Salisbury (1965), Skip Allan (1967), and Jon Andron (1969) etching their names into history.

Later, in 1985, the Dennings pushed boundaries with Montgomery Street, triumphing with their custom keel, rudder, extended transom, and tall mast.

Now, four decades later, Alli Bell and her crew aboard "Restless" have not only replicated this extraordinary achievement but have done so against the formidable might of today's fastest, most cutting-edge, and expertly sailed boats. Their victory is nothing short of phenomenal!

This is more than a win; it's a monumental statement. What Alli Bell and her crew have achieved is truly awe-inspiring!
